Mission Statement

The participants in the International Conference on “Religious and Cultural Pluralism and Peaceful Coexistence in the Middle East” (Athens, 18-20/10/2015) highlighted the need to remain vigilant and exchanged ideas on a Greek proposal for the establishment of a follow up mechanism in Athens. This mechanism in the form of the Centre for Religious Pluralism in the Middle East would examine the situation, in terms of freedom of religion or belief and cultural pluralism, would codify the various problems and would elaborate concrete proposals and viable solutions.

 

Main objectives of the Centre

  • Researching and reporting: A research team will report on the conditions, mainly, of the non-Muslim communities in the Middle East. CRPME will not be limited to monitoring the conditions in which religious rights are exercised, but it will also report on the social and economic conditions of cultural production, the demographic situation and the relationship of these communities with the world and the communities in the diaspora. The goal is not to create a denunciatory discourse by highlighting the religious right violations; instead, CRPME aims to draw a historically evolving map of the social, economic and cultural developments of the various religious communities in the Middle East and the Mediterranean.

  • Knowledge Diffusion: The establishment of a specialized Website which will be constantly updated with the developments regarding the religious communities, in English and later on in Arabic. It will also include quarterly reports, via the use of multimedia presentations, and will create e-learning platforms (initially podcasts) on matters relating to religious pluralism that can be employed internationally.

  • Dialogue Forum: In accordance to the spirit of the Athens International Conference, CRPME will organise regular meetings with political and religious leaders, as well as with the academic and NGO community. The meetings will take place in Athens and in the broader region, addressing issues on the ground and putting forward proposals of viable solutions. Within this framework, CRPME will seek the greatest possible synergy and cooperation with other related international initiatives in order to avoid duplication and to provide an even greater momentum in the common effort towards religious pluralism in the Middle East.

Στόχοι και Επιδιώξεις

Οι συμμετέχοντες και συμμετέχουσες στην Διεθνή Διάσκεψη των Αθηνών για τον «Θρησκευτικό και Πολιτιστικό Πλουραλισμό και την Ειρηνική Συνύπαρξη στη Μέση Ανατολή» (Αθήνα, 18-20.10.15) υπογράμμισαν την ανάγκη επαγρύπνησης και αντάλλαξαν απόψεις επί μιας ελληνικής πρότασης για τη δημιουργία ενός μηχανισμού παρακολούθησης. Ο μηχανισμός αυτός με τη μορφή του Κέντρου για τον Θρησκευτικό Πλουραλισμό στην Μέση Ανατολή θα εξετάζει την κατάσταση όσον αφορά ζητήματα θρησκευτικής ελευθερίας ή ελευθερίας θρησκευτικών πεποιθήσεων και πολιτιστικού πλουραλισμού, θα κωδικοποιεί τα διάφορα προβλήματα και θα επεξεργάζεται συγκεκριμένες προτάσεις και βιώσιμες λύσεις.

 

Βασικοί σκοποί του Κέντρου/Παρατηρητηρίου (Κ/Π)

  • Έρευνα και καταγραφή: Δημιουργία ομάδας επιστημονικής έρευνας και καταγραφής των συνθηκών κυρίως των μη μουσουλμανικών κοινοτήτων στη Μέση Ανατολή, οι οποίες δέχονται και τις μεγαλύτερες πιέσεις. Το Κ/Π δεν θα περιοριστεί μόνο στην παρακολούθηση των συνθηκών άσκησης των θρησκευτικών δικαιωμάτων αλλά και στην καταγραφή των κοινωνικών και οικονομικών συνθηκών, της πολιτιστικής παραγωγής, της δημογραφικής κατάστασης και των σχέσεων των κοινοτήτων αυτών με τον κόσμο και τις διασπορικές κοινότητες. Στόχος δεν είναι να έχει καταγγελτικό χαρακτήρα επισημαίνοντας παραβιάσεις δικαιωμάτων αλλά να καταγράψει ένα ιστορικά εξελισσόμενο χάρτη κοινωνικής, οικονομικής και πολιτιστικής ανάπτυξης των θρησκευτικών κοινοτήτων στη Μέση Ανατολή και τη Μεσόγειο.

  • Διάδοση της πληροφορίας: Δημιουργία ειδικού δικτυακού κόμβου με συνεχώς ανανεούμενη πληροφόρηση στα αγγλικά και αργότερα στα αραβικά με τριμηνιαίες αναφορές (reports), χρήση παρουσιάσεων πολυμέσων και δημιουργία e-learning πλατφόρμας (αρχικά podcasts) για θέματα σχετικά με τον θρησκευτικό πλουραλισμό που θα μπορούν να αξιοποιηθούν διεθνώς.

  • Αγωγός και forum διαλόγου: Διατήρηση του βασικού πλεονεκτήματος της διεθνούς διάσκεψης της Αθήνας δηλαδή της συνάντησης και της ώσμωσης πολιτικών και θρησκευτικών ηγεσιών καθώς και ακαδημαϊκής κοινότητας και ΜΚΟ μέσω τακτικών συναντήσεων στην Αθήνα και στην περιοχή στις οποίες θα τίθενται πρακτικά ζητήματα και θα προτείνουν λύσεις. Στο πλαίσιο αυτό θα επιδιωχθούν οι μεγαλύτερες δυνατές συνέργειες με άλλες σχετικές διεθνείς πρωτοβουλίες ώστε να αποφευχθούν αλληλοεπικαλύψεις και να δοθεί ακόμη μεγαλύτερη δυναμική στην κοινή προσπάθεια.

Les participants à la Conférence Internationale sur "Le Pluralisme Religieux et Culturel ainsi que la Coexistence Pacifique dans le Moyen-Orient" (Athènes, le 18-20/10/2015) ont souligné la nécessité de rester vigilants et ont échangé des idées concernant la proposition grecque pour l'établissement d'un mécanisme de suivi à Athènes. Ce mécanisme qui prendra la forme du Centre pour le Pluralisme Religieux dans le Moyen-Orient examinera la situation, en termes de liberté à la religion ou à la croyance et de pluralisme culturel, codifiera les divers problèmes et élaborera des propositions concrètes ainsi que des solutions viables.

 

Objectifs principaux du Centre

  • Recherche et rapport: Une équipe de chercheurs fera des rapports sur les conditions, principalement des communautés non-musulmanes dans le Moyen-Orient. Le CRPME ne sera pas limité à surveiller les conditions dans lesquelles les droits religieux sont exercés, mais il fera aussi des rapports sur les conditions sociales et économiques de la production de culture, la situation démographique et la relation de ces communautés avec le monde ainsi que les communautés de la diaspora. Le but n’est pas de créer un discours dénonciateur en surlignant les violations du droit à la religion ; au contraire, le CRPME vise à dessiner une carte historique qui évolue des développements sociaux, économiques et culturels des diverses communautés religieuses du Moyen-Orient et de la Méditerranée.

  • Diffusion de l’information: L’établissement d’un site web spécialisé qui sera constamment mis à jour sur les développements concernant les communautés religieuses, en Anglais, puis plus tard, en Arabe. Des rapports trimestriels, via des présentations multimédias, seront aussi inclus, et des plateformes e-learning seront créées (initialement des podcast) concernant les questions sur le pluralisme religieux qui pourront être appliquées, par la suite, sur le plan international.

  • Forum de Dialogue: Suite à l'esprit de la Conférence Internationale d'Athènes, le CRPME organisera des réunions régulières avec les chefs religieux et politiques, ainsi qu'avec la communauté académique et des ONG. Les réunions auront lieu à Athènes et dans la région élargie, en abordant les questions sur le terrain et en avançant des propositions sur des solutions viables. Dans ce contexte, le CRPME recherchera la synergie et la coopération les plus possibles avec d'autres initiatives internationales afin d'éviter la duplication et d'offrir une dynamique encore plus importante pour l'effort commun vers le pluralisme religieux dans le Moyen-Orient.

المشاركون في "المؤتمر الدولي" حول " التعددية الدينية والثقافية والتعايش السلمي في الشرق الأوسط " (أثينا، 18-20/10/2015) أظهروا الحاجة إلى تبادل الافكار بناءً على اقتراح يوناني لإنشاء آلية متابعة لنتائج المؤتمر. حيث أن هذه الآلية من خلال مركز التعددية الدينية في الشرق الأوسط ستقوم بدراسة الحرية الدينية والمعتقدات المختلفة والتعددية الثقافية في الشرق الأوسط وسوف تدون مختلف المشاكل ووضع مقترحات ملموسة وحلول قابلة للتطبيق

 

الأهداف الرئيسية للمركز تتمثل

البحوث والتقارير: هنالك فريق بحوثات سيقدم تقارير عن الظروف، جوهرياً، من المجتمعات غير الإسلامية في الشرق الأوسط. مركز التعددية الدينية في الشرق الأوسط لن يقتصر على رصد الأوضاع التي تمارس الحقوق الدينية، بل أنها ستقدم تقريرا بشأن الظروف الاجتماعية والاقتصادية للإنتاج الثقافي والوضع الديمغرافي والعلاقة بين هذه المجتمعات مع العالم والمجتمعات في الشتات. أن الهدف لا يتمثل في اتهام اي جهة مختصة في انتهاكات الحقوق الدينية؛ وبدلاً من ذلك، المركز يهدف إلى رسم خريطة تاريخية للتطورات الاجتماعية والاقتصادية والثقافية لمختلف الطوائف

الدينية في منطقة الشرق الأوسط والبحر الأبيض المتوسط نشر المعلومات و المعرفة: وهذا من خلال إنشاء موقع متخصص على شبكة الإنترنت و الذي سوف يكون محدث باستمرار على التطورات المتعلق بالمجتمعات الدينية باللغة الإنكليزية، وفي اللغة العربية في وقت لاحق. سيشمل أيضا تقارير فصلية، عن طريق استخدام عروض الوسائط المتعددة، وسيتم إنشاء منصة تعليم الكتروني(في البداية بودكاست) في المسائل المتعلقة بالتعددية الدينية التي يمكن استخدامها دوليا

منتدى الحوار: في روح "مؤتمر أثينا الدولي "، المركز سوف يقوم بتنظيم مؤتمرات قمة منتظمة مع القيادات السياسية والدينية، وكذلك مع الأوساط الأكاديمية ومنظمات المجتمع الغير حكومية. مؤتمرات القمة التي ستعقد في أثينا وفي منطقة أوسع، ستعالج القضايا على أرض الواقع، وتقدم مقترحات بشأن إيجاد حلول مستدامة. ضمن هذا الإطار، سوف تسعى المركز بأعظم إمكانية التآزر والتعاون مع المبادرات الدولية ذات الصلة من أجل تجنب الازدواجية وإعطاء زخم أكبر في الجهود المشتركة للتعددية الدينية في الشرق الأوسط
